"For the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God's laws." Book of James Chapter 2 Verse 10
James is speaking of consistency here. If we want to follow God's law, then we cannot pick and choose the ones we think are important. If you do that, then you become the rule maker and by extension you are your own God. Basing morality on your opinion is very dangerous. We can talk ourselves into finding things that are immoral acceptable. This is why we need a moral compass set in stone, which is why we cannot neglect any of God's laws.
In the verse following this one, James gives an example of how this is hipocritical behavior. He says someone who believes that God's law says adultery and murder is wrong. However, this person murders others, but does not commit adultery. Something is clearly wrong with that. Living by a moral code will give you great rewards internally and externally. It is up to us to fully commit to this principle to set an example for others to follow.
