"God blesses you when people mock you and persecute you and lie about you and say all sorts of evil things against because you are my followers."
To me this quote from the Bible is discussing people who want to tear you down. When you try to do good things for yourself, there will be people who will discourage you. This is one of the obstacles we face. For example, if you start working out regularly and lose weight, there might be people who say that you are losing too much weight. Another example is if you are doing well at your job, jealous people might talk bad about you behind your back to get others against you.
What do you do when these things happen? Well, this verse says God blesses you when people come lie about you to others. So even though you might be upset at the hurtful things others may say, the Lord will bless you and reward you if you do not retaliate. If you act like them then you are no longer a follower of God and will not be blessed. So, ignore haters because you will be rewarded in the end.
